After the improvement yesterday, I thought it would be OK to go to Greeley this morning to do some work related tasks. Dianne called me at 8:45 am - upset & crying - saying that they wanted to do the surgery. I arrived at her room by 9:30 and they had already taken her.

Rebecca & Breckin arrived just as I was heading into the surgery prep area and we briefly meet with Dianne before they took her in surgery. Dr. Herb Mooney will be the surgeon. There is something preventing her intestines from functioning normally, and their plan is to explore what is causing the block in her intestines.

12:45 PM

Dr. Herb Mooney just returned with the good news that it was a ruptured appendix. They removed her appendix, and she is in recovery. He said that the intestines and bowels will start working normally again now that she had the appendix removed. He did say that normally you can spot a ruptured appendix in a CT scan. They did a CT scan at the time that they did an X-ray, however the ruptured appendix did not show on the CT scan. They had started her on antibiotics when she was admitted to the hospital on Monday, so this is most likely what helped to keep the ruptured appendix from being fatal. So in the end...it wasn't even food poisoning!

Late evening

Dianne was very uncomfortable for the remaining of the day after the surgery.  Her Interstitial Cystitis caused her extreme pain with many trips to the bathroom.
